AbstractThe remote sensing is a valuable tool for instructional use to explorer in different subject areas and by different school levels. The objective of this paper is to show that remote sensing can be use to study dengue in educational secondary level. Dengue virus kills people in Brazil and other countries every year. Because of it, dengue was chosen as an educational study theme. The study was carried out with secondary students from three different schools. The students were provided with background information about satellite images. They have learned to detect urban land use classes in these images and to relate these classes with dengue cases. The methodology applied not only motivated and got students involved but also arouses their awareness of the dengue problem in their neighborhood and in the whole world.
